Position: Building Enclosure Consultant

Position Overview: They are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Building Enclosure Consultant to join their team. The Building Enclosure Consultant will be responsible for the design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of building enclosure systems. This role includes conducting building enclosure assessments, designing building enclosure systems, and providing construction administration services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing buildings for enclosure performance and durability.
  • Identify building enclosure problems, such as leaks, deterioration, and energy loss, and propose solutions.
  • Design building enclosure systems, including materials selection and detailing.
  • Provide advice and consultation to architects, engineers, and construction teams on building enclosure design, materials, and implementation.
  • Review architectural plans and construction documents for potential enclosure issues.
  • Perform on-site inspections during construction to verify correct installation of the building enclosure.
  • Conduct tests to determine the performance of the building enclosure, including air leakage, water penetration, and thermal bridging.
  • Prepare and present reports on building enclosure assessments, designs, and inspections.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and standards in building enclosure science.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in consulting, inspection, and testing building enclosure components.
  • Working knowledge of various building enclosure technologies and alternatives for roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall cladding.
  • Building Forensic experience is a plus.
  • Preferred certifications: Professional Registrations such as RRO, RRC, RWC; Professional Engineer (PE); Registered Architect (RA).
