Position Overview:


They are seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Restoration Engineer to join their dynamic team in NYC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering with expertise in the restoration, preservation, parking garages, facades and repair of both historic and modern structures. In this role, you will work on high-profile projects across New York City, collaborating with architects, contractors, and clients to deliver durable, safe, and innovative restoration solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate the structural condition of buildings and infrastructure for restoration and rehabilitation projects.
  • Perform structural analysis and design repairs to ensure the stability, safety, and preservation of historic buildings.
  • Develop and review construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to coordinate project tasks and resolve any design or construction issues.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitoring to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices related to structural restoration and preservation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State (required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on restoration and preservation.
  • Expertise in structural analysis, material properties, and repair techniques for both historic and modern structures.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA, SAP2000).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC building codes, historical preservation standards, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with facade inspections, landmark buildings, and compliance with local historic preservation laws.
  • Knowledge of materials such as masonry, steel, concrete, and wood, especially in the context of restoration work.
  • LEED certification or other sustainability credentials.
