Job Overview:
They are seeking a passionate and dedicated Principal Environmental Specialist to join our Natural Resources group in Parsippany, New Jersey. This role offers an excellent growth opportunity for candidates to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals on various public and private sector projects. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in the following areas:
Responsibilities:
- Manage project and task budgets and deadlines.
- Oversee complex environmental projects.
- Prepare environmental permits in New Jersey and New York.
- Develop proposals and project budgets; assist with marketing and business development.
- Lead wetland field investigations, delineations, and functional value assessments.
- Conduct threatened and endangered floral and faunal habitat assessments and targeted species surveys.
- Prepare technical studies and reports.
- Submit wetland and ecological permit applications in compliance with federal and state regulations, with a focus on New York and New Jersey.
- Compile scope and fee for projects or tasks.
- Assign tasks, communicate expectations, and track task status.
- Complete project tasks within deadlines and budget constraints.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Monitor and manage project finances monthly.
- Mentor junior environmental staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, botany, wildlife management, natural resources, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience.
- Certified Wildlife Biologist or Professional Wetland Scientist preferred, but not required.
- Strong identification skills for northeastern flora and fauna.
- Ability to lead wetland delineations.
- Proficiency in leading threatened and endangered species habitat assessments and targeted surveys.
- Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers, New Jersey, and New York permitting.
- Preferable experience with NYDOT and NJDOT projects.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience in managing junior staff, tasks, and projects.
