We are seeking a highly experienced Environmental Consultant to lead and manage projects across various sectors, including oil and gas, electric, and renewables.
This role requires extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting requirements associated with the development and construction of new projects throughout the U.S. in market sectors such as oil and gas, electric, and renewables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Lead and mentor project teams, providing strategic direction and oversight on field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state, and local agencies, and review of necessary project reports and materials.
- Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, advising them on strategies to obtain permits and maintain compliance with regulations and permit conditions.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging technical expertise and industry knowledge to expand the company's market presence.
- Regulatory Interface: Interface daily with various agencies to obtain approvals, submit permit applications, and prepare responses in a timely manner, ensuring smooth project progression.
- Innovative Solutions: Apply technical and creative solutions to complex environmental permitting challenges, driving innovation within the team.
- Project Management: Oversee project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are completed within expectations and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
- Travel: Travel as necessary to meet project or client commitments, demonstrating flexibility and dedication.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, environmental planning, biology, ecology, or related field from an accredited program.
- Professional Experience: Minimum 10 years of related professional experience, with a strong background in consulting and business development.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of regulations and permitting requirements for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, stormwater and erosion & sediment control, cultural resources and architectural history, and the National Environmental Policy Act. Expertise in NEPA and the preparation of EA/EIS documents is highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a dynamic environment, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with various audiences (i.e., regulators, public officials, clients, etc.).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel outside of normal working hours, including weekends.
- Driving Qualifications: Valid driver's license required; must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
