Looking for an opportunity to shape the future of municipal infrastructure? We're seeking a motivated Municipal Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to support and lead water resources and site development projects. This role involves working closely with municipalities, developers, and utilities to design innovative and sustainable solutions for communities.
This position is ideal for an engineer looking to take on project management responsibilities, interact with clients, and mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality municipal and private site development projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Technical Delivery
Design and oversee stormwater, water resources, and site development projects from planning through construction.
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (SWMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, etc.) for flood studies, storm sewer systems, and detention facilities.
Develop and review grading, drainage, erosion control, and utility plans to meet regulatory requirements.
Assist clients with stormwater permits, floodplain analysis, and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and technical evaluations.
Support construction administration, including site visits, contractor coordination, and issue resolution.
Client & Team Engagement
Collaborate with municipalities, developers, and private clients to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
Assist with proposal preparation, project scoping, and business development to expand municipal and private sector work.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
Ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
4-8 years of experience in stormwater management, site development, and/or municipal water resources projects.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Iowa or ability to obtain one.
Proficiency in hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, grading, drainage, and utility design.
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and stormwater modeling software (SWMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, etc.).
