Our client, a respected and growing engineering firm with a strong reputation in water resources, is looking for a Water Resources Discipline Lead to launch and grow their presence in Omaha, Nebraska. As the foundational hire for this discipline in the Omaha office, you'll have the opportunity to help shape local strategy, culture, and client relationships-while collaborating closely with experienced teams in other locations.


About the Role:

As the Water Resources Discipline Lead, you'll be the local face of the firm's water resources practice-spearheading business development, managing complex projects, and building a high-performing team. You'll have the entrepreneurial spirit of starting something new, backed by a deep bench of technical experts, project managers, and marketing resources from other offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical and strategic lead for all water resources projects in the Omaha region.

  • Lead and grow a local team, with support from other offices.

  • Manage projects related to stormwater, flood control, watershed planning, green infrastructure, and water quality.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with municipalities, state agencies, and utility partners.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and funding sources.

  • Collaborate with firmwide leadership on strategic growth planning and resource sharing.

  • Mentor junior staff and foster a positive, growth-oriented culture in the Omaha office.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental,or similar
Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Nebraska or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering.

  • Proven project management and business development track record.

  • Prior experience in stormwater modeling, drainage design, flood mitigation, and/or hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring staff.

  • Familiarity with funding programs (FEMA, NRCS, Clean Water SRF, etc.) and permitting processes.
