Federal Field CxA Agent

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a design and construction team to commission building systems, ensuring equipment and systems are installed properly and operating at optimal efficiency levels and client operational expectations. Systems to be commissioned will primarily be mechanical systems.
  • Serve as a project manager for assigned projects and be responsible for training and mentoring Cx Field Agents.

Essential Functions:

  • Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for overall compliance with the design intent, owner's requirements, and functional testing requirements.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct opposed season testing and warranty reviews to ensure systems function in accordance with the design intent of the contract documents.
  • Perform site visits to execute inspections using pre-functional checklists, functional performance tests, and the training matrix for a given project.
  • Review and verify that the training matrix developed by the general contractor meets the specifications developed by the project team.
  • Prepare accurate and timely progress reports to communicate commissioning progress and issues with the project team.
  • Serve as the main point of communication between the contractor and the project team.
  • Verify preventative maintenance material and record documents for commissioned equipment and systems.
  • Maintain equipment logs and master deficiency lists for Cx projects.
  • Schedule work, communicate schedule information to the project team, and monitor manpower requirements.
  • Manage the project during the construction phases; coordinate activities of the project team and construction administration personnel.
  • Supervise job close-out process: documentation, filing, record drawings, construction cost database input, follow-up marketing, and team debriefing.
  • Participate in client meetings to review project status.
  • Participate in regular Cx team meetings to plan for and evaluate the progress of Cx activities.
  • Perform retro commissioning and diagnostic work as needed.
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of Cx Field Agents.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of discipline-specific engineering theories and methodologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of building automation and controls.
  • Thorough knowledge of design documents.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of system installation and functionality requirements.

  • Comprehension - ability to understand information, ideas, and direction presented in writing and/or verbally communicated.
  • Written Communication Skills - ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Technical Writing Skills - skilled in summarizing or explaining technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate way, communicating the point intended.
  • Organizational Skills - can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner.
  • Team-Building Skills - ability to enhance social relations, define roles, and align goals within a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of applicable experience in commissioning projects; healthcare facility experience is highly beneficial OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with five years of applicable experience.
  • Must either hold a current Commissioning Authority (CxA) Certification or obtain it within the first three months of employment.
  • Will be expected to apply and maintain a work VISA with company support.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently use a computer for several hours at a time.
  • May need to periodically maneuver over, under, and around barriers as well as climb ladders on a job site.
  • May need to periodically transport ladders, equipment, and plans weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to climb stairs, walk around, and stand at a job site for several hours at a time.
  • Frequently travel by car and plane in order to visit job sites and attend meetings, conferences, and events.

Additional Information:

  • This role is for a Federal Field Agent working on a federal hospital project.
  • The role will start local to the US with once-a-week monthly travel to Germany.
  • After the initial period, the role will be on-site for a hospital project in Germany for two years.
  • There is potential to return and work on local projects in the US after the two-year period.
