Role Overview
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Forensic Structural Engineer to join the team. This position involves a significant amount of independent work, dealing with insurance companies, and field work. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and work on a wide range of projects. This is an in-office position with on-site field work.
Responsibilities
- Investigate the extent of damage in the civil/structural fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
- Manage and work with multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.
- Research failure modes and code requirements as needed.
- Prepare all necessary reporting and permit drawing generation outlining all restoration/renovation work.
- Perform structural design and drafting of restoration for damaged residential buildings, as well as design and drafting of new residential buildings.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and building owners to facilitate smooth project completion.
- Provide structural recommendations in well-written reports.
- Travel throughout Ontario and possibly other locations on short notice when needed.
Key Qualifications
- University degree in civil/structural engineering and P.Eng. designation.
- 6+ years of structural design experience, with a minimum of 3 years in wood frame construction.
- 3+ years of project management and proven leadership experience.
- Construction/site experience in wood frame construction; on-site/hands-on residential/commercial construction experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Familiarity with Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
