We are working with a EPC contractor specialising in Bulk Materials Handling and Organic Waste Treatment Facilities. Thanks to recent engagements in the Bulk Materials Handling and Organics markets, they are looking for suitably skilled personnel to join our dynamic and skilled team, to deliver a range of industrial organics processing, large conveyor, storage, and handling machine projects throughout Australia and Asia.
About the role
We are looking for a suitably experienced Structural Engineer to join our EPC team preferably based in Hobart but can be Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. This team is tasked with the design and delivery of projects from pre-works (including procurement and fabrication) through to commissioning and handover. The Structural Engineer is to provide engineering design works for the various bids and projects as assigned to them. This role involves ensuring the generation, review and approval of standard designs and procedures whilst reviewing and adequately addressing the client's scope while also considering legislative and national requirements. The role also involves mentoring less experienced engineers where relevant and monitoring the technical capabilities of the engineering team.
You'll also possess - and be able to demonstrate - these specific skills:
- Provide technical oversight of designs provided by the engineering team.
- Review of preliminary designs for tenders/studies utilizing company standards.
- Review technical scopes and budgets for tender projects.
- Respond to and review RFI's as applicable.
- Review technical departures from Client Requirements.
- Actively contribute to technical risk assessments.
- Ensure all design deliverables meet the client's scope.
- Review the project Design Baseline.
- Review project technical specifications for procurement and review pretender submissions.
- Review all necessary design calculations as applicable.
- Contribute to Safety in Design reviews and HAZOPs.
- Contribute to Construction, Maintainability and Operability Assessments.
- Review the Project Commissioning plan.
- Review design drawings, technical data and models developed by Company designers and external suppliers as applicable.
- Review and approve engineering lists as applicable for the projects.
- Contribute to the resolution of design related NCR's as applicable.
- Estimate resource requirements for upcoming and future projects.
- Provide technical assistance to the project teams as required for battery limits, plant breakdowns, constructability reviews, commissioning or technical site issues.
- Review the Design Management Plans for projects to confirm technical suitability and feasibility.

Skills and experience
- 8 years experience as a Structural Engineer
- 4 years experience in Bulk Material Handling
- Advanced knowledge of design processes means and methods
- 5 years experience on Design & Construction projects
- Structural Engineering degree
- Fellow of Engineers Australia or approved equivalent
