Position: Senior Environmental Specialist
Location: Columbus, OH
We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented problem solver to join our dynamic environmental science team. As a key member of our group, you will collaborate with our seasoned Project Managers, Geologists, Ecologists, and Environmental Specialists to assess natural resources and document potential environmental impacts on a wide array of infrastructure projects.

General Duties:
- Prepare environmental documentation in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
- Conduct wetland and waterway delineations and assessments, and prepare delineation reports and waterway permits.
- Additional responsibilities may include developing wetland and/or stream mitigation plans, performing mitigation site monitoring, conducting Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, and providing general environmental consulting services.
Technical Duties:
- Perform field data collection for environmental investigations and natural resource surveys.
- Collect and compile environmental data from soil, water, and other materials for analysis.
- Gather and compile geographic information for project sites, including the use of GPS instruments.
- Create maps depicting environmental data collected and develop project-specific maps using GIS software.
- Analyze samples, surveys, and other information to identify and assess impacts on the natural and human environment, and propose strategies to avoid, minimize, or mitigate these impacts.
- Develop plans, technical reports, and permit applications to document environmental impacts.
- Coordinate regularly with government agencies to identify natural and socio-economic resources potentially affected by projects.
- Stay updated and proficient with environmental regulations relevant to transportation and civil works projects.
- Assist in planning and executing public participation and outreach initiatives for projects.
Client Coordination:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to address project questions related to scope, environmental procedures, and scheduling.
- Help identify new opportunities with existing and potential clients.
- Support business development efforts.
Quality Assurance:
- Adhere to Company and Department Quality Assurance and Quality Control guidelines to ensure all work products meet the highest professional standards.
- Review interim drafts and final reports, mapping, plans, and computations for completeness and accuracy before submission to the Project Manager.
- Review work performed by other departments and/or sub-consultants as directed by the Project Manager to ensure satisfactory performance.
- Respond promptly to regulatory agency comments and issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in a consulting or regulatory environment within the environmental science field.
- Ability to work effectively and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment.
- Capability to work in varying conditions, including uneven terrain and remote sites.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Experience with ARC GIS is preferred.
