Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction Projects
Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $120,000- $180,000 + Bonus(s)
Position Overview:
They are a reputable general contractor specializing in heavy civil construction, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale civil construction projects, such as roads, utilities, earthwork, and infrastructure development. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee complex projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the planning, execution, and completion of heavy civil construction projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Coordinate and manage project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Prepare and review project contracts, change orders, and RFIs (requests for information).
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to clients, senior management, and stakeholders.
- Ensure all projects are completed in compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify, assess, and resolve potential project risks and issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure the timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services needed for the project.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality control, and ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Manage project documentation, including reports, change orders, and schedules.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager in the heavy civil construction industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large infrastructure projects, such as roadways, utilities, earthwork, and site development.
- Strong understanding of civil construction processes, methods, and materials.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and contracts.
- Familiarity with project management software, scheduling tools, and construction management software.
- Strong background in managing subcontractors and vendors.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar certification (preferred, but not required).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Prolog, MS Project, etc.).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
