Position Title: Structural/Civil Engineer
Location: Tampa, FL
Job Overview: On the lookout for a driven and experienced licensed Professional Engineer to join a multidisciplinary, employee-owned firm. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of structural systems and their components, with a focus on forensic engineering for various types of structures, including residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and inland. Proficiency in failure analysis, technical report writing, and construction litigation is highly valued.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform field investigations to document existing conditions and damage to structural systems caused by natural events (e.g., wind, water, fire, earthquakes) or human-induced factors (e.g., design and construction errors).
- Apply knowledge of building codes, structural behavior, and construction practices to develop repair recommendations and conduct cause and origin analyses.
- Review design drawings and related documentation.
- Engage with clients, code officials, and contractors, providing detailed reports.
- Oversee multiple project assignments, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Foster and maintain client relationships.
- Travel as required, sometimes on short notice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida.
- Familiarity with national building and construction codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in litigation support, including providing expert testimony, is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United States and a clean driving record.
