My client, an international IPP, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Director to lead the development efforts for utility-scale battery energy storage projects. As the Development Director, this individual will play a pivotal role in driving the project development lifecycle and ensuring overall project success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the rapidly evolving energy storage sector as my client is looking to really expand their team and bring on individuals in various regions including CAISO/WECC, MISO, and ERCOT markets to support project demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development efforts for utility-scale battery storage projects.
- Efficiently communicate complex development situations and navigate through challenges from project inception through construction phase.
- Manage and support permitting, site control, interconnection matters, power marketing, design/engineering, procurement, construction, financing, and other critical aspects of project development.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the energy storage market relevant to location, including regulatory and competitive matters, to inform development decisions.
- Track project progress through key development milestones, managing schedules and budgets, and coordinating across disciplines within the company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or other related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the renewable energy space, ideally in utility-scale energy project development, more specifically battery storage.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and market dynamics in the energy industry.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, approximately 30%.
