ROLE: CMT Department Manager
Location: Columbia, MD
My client, a leading full-service engineering consulting firm with a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions since 1984, is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to join their team at the Columbia, MD office.
With 37 years of industry experience, their team has grown to include over 100 skilled professionals, ranging from geotechnical engineers to inspection staff. Their fully-certified laboratories are equipped to handle a diverse array of materials testing and inspections. The Geotechnical Department provides comprehensive professional and technical services across all aspects of geotechnical and earthwork engineering. By leveraging innovative and practical problem-solving skills, they develop cost-effective engineering solutions for even the most complex geotechnical challenges.
Led by a professional engineer, their well-coordinated and experienced team offers the diverse expertise required to deliver critical project-enhancing assessments and recommendations, supporting informed decision-making.

Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site materials testing and quality assurance reviews to uphold industry standards.
- Prepare daily reports and validate findings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support laboratory operations, including managing tests and reviewing results and procedures.
- Oversee project management tasks, including document review, non-compliance tracking, and budget oversight.
- Engage in business development by building relationships with clients and industry professionals.
- Write, review, and manage proposals, including cultivating opportunities through client interactions and bid management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project and company goals.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and co-workers
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities
- Preferred certifications: ACI/WACEL
- Preferred designation: E.I.T. (Engineer in Training)
