Wastewater Project Manager - Springfield, MO
My client, a well-established firm with a strong reputation in civil and environmental engineering, is seeking an experienced Wastewater Project Manager to join their growing team in Springfield, MO. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in managing a variety of wastewater pipeline, sewer, treatment, and process conveyance projects while contributing to business development and mentoring staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent wastewater projects, including pipeline design, sewer rehabilitation, treatment plant upgrades, and process conveyance systems.
- Apply technical expertise to guide clients through all project phases, ensuring that budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Plan, schedule, and execute engineering work on wastewater treatment, collection systems, and pump stations, with full responsibility for design decisions and project outcomes.
- Oversee tasks such as preliminary and detailed design, cost estimating, bidding assistance, engineering services during construction, and project commissioning.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling, treatment process evaluations, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews.
- Supervise and mentor staff engineers, drafters, technicians, and sub-consultants to ensure project success.
- Actively participate in recruiting and hiring efforts to grow and strengthen the team.
- Maintain and nurture client relationships through effective communication and exceptional project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Missouri (or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months).
- 8+ years of experience in wastewater project management, with expertise in treatment processes, conveyance systems, and infrastructure design.
- Proven ability to manage projects from planning through construction, with responsibility for budgets, schedules, and quality.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater pipelines, sewer systems, and treatment plant design.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams.
- Experience in business development, including preparing proposals and participating in client interviews.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Active involvement in professional organizations, with a track record of presenting technical papers and serving on technical committees.
