Job Summary
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements for rail and transit construction projects. This is a field-focused role with a key presence on active job sites across the Chicago metro area. The ideal candidate brings a proactive, detail-oriented approach to quality management and is comfortable working in fast-paced, high-safety environments such as live rail systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs) aligned with client, agency, and internal standards.
Conduct and document all quality inspections, testing procedures, and verifications in accordance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
Interface with project owners, transit agencies (e.g., CTA, Metra), subcontractors, and third-party inspectors to resolve non-conformances and maintain quality expectations.
Lead quality-focused pre-activity meetings, ensuring all parties understand scope, requirements, and standards.
Track, review, and maintain documentation including submittals, RFIs, material certifications, and test results.
Support project teams in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans.
Coordinate with Safety and Operations teams to ensure a unified field execution strategy.
Contribute to lessons learned and company-wide quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in heavy civil or rail-related construction with a focus on quality control or construction inspection.
Proven knowledge of rail/transit infrastructure construction standards and materials (track, platforms, signaling, electrical, etc.).
Familiarity with public agency quality requirements (e.g., CTA, Metra, Amtrak, IDOT, FTA).
Strong understanding of ISO standards, ACI, AASHTO, ASTM, and related construction quality protocols.
OSHA 30 and relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager, ACI, NICET) are a plus.
Strong communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction management software preferred.
