Lead Electrical Engineer - Renewables
A nationally recognized, employee-owned engineering and consulting firm is seeking a motivated Lead Electrical Engineer to join its growing Renewable Energy practice in Delray Beach, FL. Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical engineering for renewable energy projects including solar PV systems, battery energy storage (BESS), EV charging infrastructure, and microgrids.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Develop construction documents (plans, specifications, cost estimates) for power distribution, grounding, protection, and utility interconnection systems.
- Oversee utility interconnection applications and technical studies.
- Engage directly with clients to understand goals, offer expert technical guidance, and foster long-term partnerships.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
- Contribute to business development activities such as proposal preparation, client presentations, and strategic market pursuits.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and utility requirements (NEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, NESC).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 2 years working on renewable energy projects.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (Florida preferred or ability to obtain).
- Proficient with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar.
- Strong technical expertise in solar PV, energy storage, EV charging, and medium-voltage systems.
- Demonstrated success in managing technical teams, client relationships, and project execution.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with permitting processes, utility interconnections, and renewable energy development.
- Knowledge of distributed generation, microgrid design, and emerging grid technologies.
- Interest in contributing to practice growth and client development initiatives.
