Role:

The Director of Structural Engineering will play a pivotal role within the firm, leading client development, strategic initiatives, and the Structural Team. This position involves pursuing new client opportunities, maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, acting as the Principal in Charge for key accounts, and addressing project challenges. The Director will oversee the Structural Team, manage staffing needs, and allocate resources effectively. Additionally, they will mentor the team, set professional development goals, and often take on the role of Senior Project Manager for complex projects. This role combines leadership, client engagement, and project management, essential for the Structural Team's success and the firm's overall growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the company's leadership team to address company-wide issues and shape the firm's strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with firm leaders and Project Managers to ensure proper staff resource allocation for all tasks and projects.
  • Serve as Principal in Charge (PIC) for select clients, fostering and maintaining client relationships.
  • Evaluate potential business opportunities and provide recommendations to the Executive Team.
  • Develop and implement capture plans for identified PIC clients.
  • Advise the Executive Team on staffing levels and participate in hiring and termination decisions.
  • Lead the interview process for new hires within the assigned team.
  • Supervise the assigned team, conduct regular reviews, and oversee professional development plans.
  • Allocate resources for the assigned team and implement staff training and development plans.
  • Recommend salary adjustments and bonuses for assigned staff.
  • Implement Personal Improvement Plans (PIP) for staff if necessary.
  • Participate in both the company's Executive Leadership (strategic) and Leadership Council (operational) to address issues and guide the firm's direction.
