My Client is seeking a mid-to-senior Construction Cost Estimator/ Construction Consultant to their team of multi-disciplinary consultants. The individual will have knowledge in performing detailed take-offs of property conditions, estimating for medium to large projects utilizing Xactimate and other estimating software for residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. Experience in document review and analyses of schedules, contracts, change orders, daily construction reports, authoring technical reports, and construction litigation is desired.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Field Documentation: Record as-built conditions and damage extent from natural events (e.g., floods, hurricanes) or human-induced origins (e.g., design errors).
  • Estimating: Create precise repair/replacement estimates using drawings, field notes, and photos.
  • Research: Utilize historical data and pricing to develop cost estimates.
  • Cost Development: Establish unit costs for detailed repair scopes and general/special conditions.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate construction risks and incorporate them into estimates.
  • Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving alternatives and risk mitigation solutions.
  • Documentation: Assist in preparing work scopes, bid forms, and solicitation information.
  • Analysis: Review and analyze third-party estimates and proposals.
  • Communication: Collaborate with clients, code officials, and contractors to resolve construction issues and prepare reports.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Client Relations: Maintain and develop strong client relationships.
  • Travel: Be prepared to travel nationwide on short notice.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience: 10+ years in public and private projects valued at $5 million+.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and interpretive skills for preparing detailed and conceptual construction cost estimates.
  • Certifications: Desired membership with ASPE and AACE International; CPE certification preferred.
  • On-Site Experience: Preferred.
  • Property Loss Estimating: Preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Extensive experience with Xactimate, RS Means, Microsoft Excel and Word, on-screen takeoff software, and other construction estimating tools.
  • Math and Computational Skills: Excellent.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal abilities.
