Civil/Structural Substation Engineer
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support Capital improvement projects within Transmission Design. This role involves working closely with the Physical design team to add features and enhancements to substations, ensuring efficient power delivery. Most of the work will be office-based, focusing on building out structures within substations according to codes.
Responsibilities:
- Support capital improvement projects within Transmission Design.
- Collaborate with the Physical design team to enhance substation features.
- Analyze and design structural steel connections.
- Utilize MathCAD and STAAD PRO for structural analysis.
- Apply working knowledge of ANSYS software.
- Ensure compliance with ASCE and ACI codes.
- Provide in-office support for building out structures according to codes.
- Conduct field visits to verify work scope and project details.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of design experience in industrial and/or commercial structural engineering.
- Experience with analyzing steel connections.
- Proficiency with MathCAD and STAAD PRO.
- Working knowledge of ANSYS.
- Familiarity with ASCE and ACI codes.
- Engineering degree required.
- Professional Engineering registration is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Design experience in transmission structures is a plus.
- Proficiency in standard office software applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build working relationships with peers, internal customers, and the general public.
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to complete project documentation and function effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a hybrid setting, with the Civil/Structural group working in the office 6-8 days per month. The role involves close collaboration with team members to support projects and occasional field visits to verify work scope and project details.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
