About the Role: *Project Pipeline over $5 Billion USD* Seize the opportunity to lead and shape the future of data center operations in Chicago as the Director of Commissioning for an industry-leading general contractor. This permanent role calls for a visionary leader with a strong background in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) construction specific to data centers. Your strategic direction and management will drive the commissioning processes, ensuring operational excellence and innovation at our high-tech facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Direct and oversee all aspects of MEP systems commissioning within data centers, providing strategic direction and leadership to cross-functional teams.
- Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are executed within timeframes and budgets according to commissioning needs while meeting client specifications.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of safety and quality control during all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement commissioning plans that align with organizational goals and technology advancements in data center operations.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure all systems and components are designed, installed, tested, and maintained according to operational requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare and lead commissioning kickoff meetings to describe commissioning expectations to equipment vendors.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of commissioning processes.

Role Expansion: This role involves taking the lead on existing projects, training and upskilling teams with your data center experience. This role would be given high levels of responsibility as this would be a new department, the company is looking to expand in this space.
Required Skills:
- Commissioning Manager: Proven expertise in managing the commissioning process for large-scale projects, particularly in hyperscale data centers.
- MEP: Proficiency in managing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems crucial for optimal design and functionality of data centers.
- Technical Excellence: Deep understanding of commissioning processes and standards.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee project planning, scoping, estimating, risk identification, and mitigation, in the context of MEP commissioning for data center projects.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, manage stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives.
