Job Description:
As a Project Engineer for water/wastewater pipeline and utility construction projects, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of complex projects. You will work closely with project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and execution of water/wastewater pipeline and utility infrastructure projects from start to finish.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering professionals to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Review project specifications and designs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment.
- Monitor construction activities and resolve any issues that arise to maintain project timelines.
- Perform site visits to ensure the work is progressing as per project specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, and other technical documents.
- Assist in the preparation of change orders, RFIs (requests for information), and submittals.
- Ensure that safety and environmental protocols are being followed on-site at all times.
- Prepare regular progress reports for clients, senior management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in water/wastewater pipeline and utility construction.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant design software.
- Strong knowledge of water/wastewater pipeline construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with local Houston construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Houston area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Texas or the ability to obtain.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
- Knowledge of GIS mapping tools and other related technologies.
- Strong understanding of budget management and cost control.
