We are hiring a Sr Specifications Writer for our Pittsburgh, PA studio. This role involves developing detailed project specifications and assisting project teams with contract documents.
Responsibilities
- Translate design requirements into materials, methods, and procedures.
- Provide quality management reviews and technical advice.
- Conduct product research and assist with material selection.
- Act as a risk management resource.
- Maintain vendor relationships and improve Master Specifications.
- Integrate specifications into the building SMART initiative.
- Participate in life cycle cost analysis.
- Maintain technical resource library.
- Conduct internal specifications training.
- Foster a green workplace and client service culture.
Teamwork
- Write and edit project specifications ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Review procurement and contracting requirements.
- Assist with project agreements and LEED certification.
- Provide budget input and constructability analysis.
- Review shop drawings and product substitutions.
- Coordinate consultant specifications.
- Archive technical files and improve document standards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering required; Master's preferred.
- 10 years of experience in specifications development.
- Knowledge in building types like Healthcare, Education, and Community
- Registered Architect and NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
- Construction Specifications Institute Certification preferred.
