Marine Structural Engineer

Engineering & Design Firm seeks a well-rounded, highly motivated Marine Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join the Civil and Marine Division of our Structural Group. Our structural group is growing and we are in need of a forward-thinking engineer, eager to learn and grow with the company. The work is very diverse, with hands-on field work and office-based engineering tasks to balance our ability to cover the full range of marine/structural engineering design and inspection projects.

Applicants will sit out of our New York City office and have the option to adopt fewer office days under a flexible hybrid work environment. Work includes both design and field work/inspections.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site investigations including above water and underwater inspection.
  • Evaluate condition and significance of deterioration.
  • Analyze deteriorated components and assess remaining capacities.
  • Help solve engineering problems and challenges.
  • Liaise with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects.
  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents.
  • Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering.
  • OSHA compliant commercial dive training (ADCI card, international dive certification, or surface supplied dive training at a commercial or military program) including required safety certifications and ability to pass a commercial diving physical.
  • EIT Certificate required. Although Professional Engineering license is preferred, record of passing PE exam will be recognized.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of steel, concrete, timber design; and familiarity with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights and in close quarters, boat and water operations, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, and carrying heavy equipment up a steep embankment, etc.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with clients and employees.
  • Competent or proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $100,000-$125,000
