My client is a prominent developer, EPC, and service provider specializing in large-scale renewable energy projects across the United States. They oversee all aspects of our projects from development through to operations and maintenance.
Summary:
The Vice President of Business Development will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, managing project pipelines, and supporting contract negotiations. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in renewable energy markets, specifically in Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), and Operations & Maintenance (O&M).
Responsibilities
-Develop and manage key customer accounts to secure EPC and O&M project contracts.
-Implement strategies to expand the project pipeline and enter new markets.
-Conduct research to identify potential customers and prioritize market opportunities.
-Develop and execute business development plans tailored to target markets and key customers.
-Stay informed about changes and developments in the EPC and O&M markets, including competitor activities and policy changes.
-Collaborate with internal teams to develop marketing materials and deliver presentations to clients.
-Act as a liaison between prospective/current clients and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
-Assist in coordinating pre-construction activities and support contract negotiations in collaboration with Commercial Operations and Legal teams.
-Provide input for project modeling and asset sales where EPC or O&M services are required.
-Maintain and enhance the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
-Communicate financial opportunities and results effectively to executive committees and decision-makers.
-Foster strong internal relationships with department leads to ensure alignment and long-term partnerships.
-Monitor and enhance customer relationships through KPIs related to outreach, market segments, success rates, and customer feedback.
-Participate in industry association meetings and events to network with potential clients and industry professionals.
-Contribute to general management activities to ensure consistent alignment across departments.
Requirements:
-Minimum of 5 years' experience in roles related to construction estimating, supervision, and/or project management.
-Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce professional proposals and presentations.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
-Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
-Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, working under time pressure and adapting to changing requirements.
-Self-motivated, proactive, and a collaborative team player.
-Ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
-Hybrid work environment with office-based responsibilities.
-Ability to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
-Up to 50% travel required for customer engagements and business development opportunities.
-Attendance at industry events may be necessary.
