As an Estimator, you'll play a crucial role in the estimating team, handling all phases of the estimating process. Your responsibilities include creating and submitting precise estimates, offering guidance to fellow estimators, and supporting customer needs after bids are submitted.
You'll be part of a collaborative and proactive team, learning from seasoned estimators and mentoring newer associates. This role will focus on high and medium voltage overhead and underground power delivery projects (transmission and distribution)
Location & Travel:
- Preferred Location: Northeast U.S. (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc.)
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to job sites in New York or Massachusetts, with occasional trips to other offices and yard locations
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow bid and project delivery processes.
- Collaborate with the Estimating Project Administrator to upload project documents for vendors/subcontractors.
- Review contract documents to understand project requirements and ensure pricing accuracy.
- Submit RFIs for estimating questions by the deadline.
- Visit potential job sites with company and customer representatives.
- Perform material take-offs and obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
- Distribute necessary qualification documents for bids.
- Participate in estimate review meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare customer-required deliverables like schedules and proposal letters.
- Prepare and submit award documents by the deadline.
- Identify important project milestones and potential change orders, and communicate them to the PM and/or Regional Director.
- Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy.
- Ensure thorough pre-construction planning and document distribution.
- Facilitate scope reviews with the PM and assist construction personnel in understanding the cost estimate.
- Attend pre-construction and post-construction meetings to provide lessons learned.
- Participate in weekly estimating meetings and monthly safety meetings.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.
- Experience: At least five years in the utility construction industry with experience in cost estimating.
