Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Substation Superintendent to oversee the operations, maintenance, and construction of electrical substations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the electrical power industry, with a proven track record of managing substation teams and ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable power distribution. As a Substation Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating projects to support electrical infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and field workers in substation operations and maintenance activities.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance management for team members to ensure a high level of productivity and expertise.
- Monitor team performance, conduct regular assessments, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of substations, ensuring equipment operates within design specifications and industry standards.
- Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical components.
- Ensure all substation equipment is regularly inspected, tested, and maintained according to regulatory and manufacturer standards.
- Project Coordination:
- Lead the execution of substation construction and upgrade projects, including coordinating schedules, resources, and budgets.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and best practices to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, NERC).
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all work activities adhere to environmental and safety standards, promoting a safety-first culture across the team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- High School Diploma.
- Relevant certifications and industry training are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in substation operations, maintenance, or construction, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical substation equipment and systems, including transformers, switchgear, relays, and control systems.
- Experience in managing large-scale substation projects, including budget management, procurement, and scheduling.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
- Travel to job sites
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts, depending on project needs.
