Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for preparing proposals for a variety of construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of the means and methods necessary for completing different types of construction. The successful candidate will be adept at performing all required take-offs, reviewing Requests for Proposal packages, and conducting site reviews to prepare comprehensive proposals. The Estimator will also attend project-related meetings and site visits, collaborate with Superintendents or their designees, and clearly communicate project requirements and the basis for estimates during bid reviews.
Responsibilities:
- Estimating HV/MV Substation/Transmission projects, Utility-scale, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), GIS, renewable energy, and HV/MV utility projects.
- Collaborating closely with the Preconstruction team, Project Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, and Superintendents.
- Conducting material and labor take-offs for all project categories.
- Analyzing blueprints.
- Determining the amount, type, and cost of materials and equipment needed for each project.
- Assessing the labor required to complete each project.
- Evaluating the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making informed bidding decisions.
- Providing solutions to enhance project profitability.
- Regularly updating cost databases to reflect fluctuating material and labor costs accurately.
- Evaluating labor and material costs to decide whether to construct electrical components in-house or subcontract the work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, math, science, or relevant trade experience with prior estimating experience.
- Proficiency in using required computer software (Microsoft Suite including Visio, Project, OneDrive, Online Client Portals, and Oracle Primavera P6) - particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as EBM & Accubid.
