- Collaborate with engineers, drafters, design teams, and consultants to ensure the successful execution of projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for meetings with clients and design team members.
- Participate in or lead the design of buildings of varying sizes, uses, and complexities.
- Take responsibility for managing specific projects, ensuring their timely and successful completion.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, leveraging professional experience.
- Serve as a Project Engineer when required.
- Develop construction drawings and structural systems using various materials.
- Prepare structural calculations to validate design decisions.
- Perform construction administration tasks, including site visits, coordination with contractors, shop drawing reviews, and addressing RFIs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and condition assessments as needed.
- Establish project fees, monitor budgets, and ensure profitability.
- Maintain project schedules to meet commitments and exceed client expectations.
- Review deliverables to ensure quality and provide assurance and control.
- Draft proposals and review contracts as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in structural engineering for buildings.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in California.
- Structural Engineer (S.E.) license in California (preferred).
- Experience in project types such as healthcare, commercial, retail, industrial, civic, seismic retrofits, or residential.
- Proficiency in designing with materials like steel, concrete, masonry, wood, or metal studs in seismically active areas.
- Competency in structural engineering software such as ETABS, RISA 3D, and SAFE.
- Familiarity with codes and standards for building projects in California.
- Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
