Summary
An IPP focused on C&I projects is looking for a skilled renewable energy engineer with expertise in utility interconnection for DER projects, standalone BESS, and PV+BESS systems to join as a Project Engineer. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this role involves high-level system design, interconnection activities, and RFP facilitation. The Project Engineer will play a key role in advancing the company's portfolio and expanding their energy storage footprint across the U.S., particularly in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Responsibilities
- Designing energy storage and hybrid solar plus storage systems, including conceptual layouts, system optimization, and CAPEX analysis
- Managing interconnection processes, evaluating costs, and maintaining utility relationships to secure agreements
- Supporting project permitting, siting, and detailed engineering through collaboration with external consultants
- Acting as the primary technical contact for utilities and providing technical responses for RFPs and EPC scopes
- Conducting site visits across North America to assess feasibility and existing infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) and 2-4 years of related experience
- Expertise in energy storage design, interconnections, and project development, with knowledge of electrical systems and codes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVCASE, PVSYST, and similar engineering tools, as well as Microsoft Office applications
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with stakeholders, consultants, and regulatory agencies
