We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Electrical department at our New York City office. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and experienced professional with strong communication, coordination, project management, and leadership abilities. Senior Project Engineers typically manage one or two smaller projects and serve as key designers on larger base-building and infrastructure upgrade projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of tenant fit-out projects and contribute as a key designer on base-building and infrastructure upgrades, including developing riser diagrams, schedules, and floor plans, and participating in specification writing.
- Establish design criteria based on project proposals and assemble basis-of-design documents.
- Create comprehensive contract documents, including layouts for main equipment rooms, closets, shafts, risers, and other trade-related elements.
- Oversee the design of ancillary systems required for projects, such as UPS, generators, fuel systems, secondary water pumps, and water reclamation systems, and prepare associated drawings.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, contractor change orders, and conduct site visits and punch-list inspections to ensure accurate implementation of designs with limited supervision.
- Contribute to creating efficient project schedules, optimizing resource use, and meeting deadlines.
- Monitor task progress and completion, holding team members accountable to deliverables regardless of position.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of trade-specific scopes, applicable codes, and coordination requirements across disciplines.
- Proficiency in preparing and understanding documentation for each project phase, including SD, DD, and CD deliverables and specifications.
- Expertise in trade-specific design calculations and software tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
