About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing instrumentation and control systems with a focus on electrical integration, PLC programming, and SCADA system design. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and efficient solutions across various industries, including water/wastewater, industrial automation, and energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of I&C systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Design and integrate electrical control systems, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) solutions.
- Develop control panel schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation layouts.
- Select and specify instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and control devices based on project requirements.
- Configure and program PLC and SCADA systems, ensuring seamless integration with electrical and mechanical components.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning for control systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and process engineers, to develop and optimize control strategies.
- Ensure compliance with ISA, NEC, NFPA, and other relevant standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in client meetings, project planning, and proposal development.
Qualifications
โ Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in I&C engineering, with a focus on electrical design, PLC, and SCADA.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) and SCADA/HMI development.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, automation networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus), and field instrumentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar software for electrical design.
โ Preferred Skills:
- PE (Professional Engineer) license or ability to obtain one.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment, oil & gas, or power generation industries.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial automation and control systems (IACS).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
