Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to support municipal water and wastewater projects in the Kansas City region. In this role, you will collaborate with senior subject matter experts and project managers to design and execute water and wastewater systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities, ranging from basic to complex, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
- Review designs and reports for adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, providing final approval.
- Conduct site reviews and studies to verify design alignment with location specifications.
- Update design requirements as needed and perform water quality analyses and modeling.
- Contribute to technical knowledge management by creating white papers and documentation on specialized designs and studies.
- Submit technical papers for publication in relevant journals.
- Collaborate with sales teams to prepare proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs) and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Engage with clients to understand their design needs and present technical concepts.
- Attend conferences and symposia to enhance visibility of products and services.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, potentially supervising their project work.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Travel may be required based on project demands.
Preferred:
- Experience leading discussions on technical concepts with clients.
- Familiarity with design, bidding, and construction services for municipal projects.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
