Automation Engineer Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot IT/IT-centric automation systems, detecting and resolving issues
- Design and implement key automation aspects of equipment projects, including PLC, vision, and HMI programming
- Manage general change processes and documentation
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, cGMPs, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct independent verification of testing against specifications
- Author, edit, and execute technical commissioning, qualification, and validation documentation
- Perform impact assessments, regression analysis, and support change management programs
- Run test scripts and document results
- Maintain clear, detailed records of qualification and validation efforts
- Develop and modify PLC programming for standard equipment
- Lead and perform quality checks related to machine control systems
- Communicate complex technical issues effectively across teams
- Monitor and complete periodic reviews and validation master plans for automation engineering
- Plan and manage tasks to meet project schedules
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment
- Develop standard operating procedures and provide system support
- Analyze operational process problems and recommend corrective actions
- Manage change control authoring and execution
- Participate in cybersecurity initiatives and provide automation system support 24/7
- Modify control logic requiring manufacturing process expertise
- Communicate progress and challenges effectively with peers
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of experience as an Automation Engineer
- Experience creating SQL databases and understanding domain authentication
- Familiarity with IT collaboration for scheduling implementations
- Ability to complete software installs, updates, and system upgrades
- Understanding of Citrix applications
- GMP and Good Documentation Practice knowledge
- Must be available for onsite work in Indianapolis, IN
- Hands-on experience with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation systems
- Ability to generate user requirement specifications for control systems
- Proficiency in reading logic, performing programming updates, and modifying control system documentation
- Experience contributing technical content to validation protocols and executing protocols
