Role Overview:
This dynamic Project Principal role is perfect for someone ready to be the go-to person for clients and build long-term relationships. Joining a small, tight-knit team of 15, the successful candidate will help grow the business by enhancing internal knowledge systems and training junior engineers.
The ideal candidate is well-rounded in building science and structural restoration, with expertise in roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site pavements, and other cladding systems. Strong technical skills, excellent writing, and communication abilities are essential. Responsibilities also include managing invoicing and monitoring the financial health of project budgets. Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects, overseeing the technical review of documents produced by other project managers and junior staff.
- Conduct investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelopes, and leakage assessments.
- Prepare specifications and manage the tendering process.
- Identify business development opportunities and lead proposal efforts to procure new projects and clients.
- Attend industry events to enhance the company's technical profile.
- Adhere to corporate standards.
- Contribute to the development of building restoration technical practice systems and train junior staff.
- Manage projects from inception through investigation, specification, and construction stages.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables, and manage the financial health of projects.
- Continuously seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and develop lasting client relationships through effective project management.
- Manage project risks and ensure deliverable compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Building Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience as a consultant in building science.
- P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered.
- Expertise in building science and structural restoration, including knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving, and other cladding systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- A team player approach to problem-solving.
- Valid class G driver's license.
