Role Overview
The firm is currently seeking a Project Principal in Building Restoration to join their team. This role can be based out of the Burlington, Kitchener, or Toronto office. The successful candidate will lead technical aspects of projects, manage client relationships, and contribute to the development of junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects, ensuring high-quality technical documents.
- Conduct investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelopes, and leakage assessments.
- Prepare specifications and manage the tendering process.
- Identify business development opportunities and lead proposal efforts to procure new projects and clients.
- Attend industry events to enhance the firm's technical profile.
- Comply with corporate standards and contribute to the development of building restoration practices and training.
- Manage projects from inception through investigation, specification, and construction stages.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables, and maintain the financial health of projects.
- Continuously seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and develop lasting client relationships.
- Manage project risks and ensure deliverable compliance.
- Travel to project sites across southwestern Ontario and the GTA as required (mileage reimbursed).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Building Engineering.
- Minimum of 15+ years of related experience as a consultant in building science.
- P.Eng. designation preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge in building science and structural restoration, including roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving, and other cladding systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and a team player approach to problem-solving.
- Valid class G driver's license required.
