Position Overview:
To oversee high voltage transmission, distribution, and substation construction and maintenance projects. This role will manage all aspects of the project, from administrative and technical to financial and resource management, ensuring safety, quality, and deadlines are met. The Project Manager must have strong leadership and communication skills, working closely with various teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with safety teams to ensure the project adheres to OSHA standards and company policies, while ensuring proper training is in place.
- Oversee project controls, contract administration, and financial tracking.
- Work closely with construction management to ensure the timely and successful completion of the project.
- Lead by example under pressure, providing motivation and direction to the team to meet deadlines.
- Identify project challenges, gather relevant information, and implement effective solutions.
- Guide pre-construction processes, including bid preparation, contract review, and execution planning.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Organize and manage project documentation, both digitally and in print.
- Coordinate scheduling and communication with subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers.
- Monitor project progress through regular communication with the construction team to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Manage contracts to safeguard the company's interests while ensuring positive relationships are maintained.
- Review and analyze cost reports, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without affecting productivity.
- Handle project cost forecasting, invoicing, and payment processes.
- Ensure efficient use of resources, including materials and equipment, throughout the project.
- Lead meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes regularly.
- Manage project submittals, change orders, and scope of work.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Excel, Project, or Primavera software.
- Take on additional responsibilities as directed by senior leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, construction management, estimating, or project controls for large projects.
- Experience or a willingness to learn project management software like Primavera P6, JD Edwards, QuickBase, and B2W.
- Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical specifications, financial documents, and legal contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of project management processes, contract administration, budgeting, scheduling, and construction practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
