JOB SUMMARY
The Project Management Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating data center projects, overseeing all phases from inception to completion, including the design, construction, and operations of data centers. This role requires technical expertise in data center infrastructure and construction processes, strong project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The Project Management Manager will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and company goals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Design
- Collaborate with clients, internal stakeholders, and design teams to define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resources, and milestones, ensuring all aspects align with company objectives.
- Assess and manage risks, creating proactive plans to address potential challenges.
Execution & Coordination
- Oversee all stages of data center construction and build-out, covering civil, electrical, and mechanical aspects.
- Coordinate with IT, networking, facilities, and engineering teams to ensure seamless infrastructure integration.
- Manage vendor selection, contracts, and performance to meet high-quality standards and specifications.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment with Facility Management, Service Delivery Managers, and Pre-Sales teams on deliverables and customer commitments.
Budget & Resource Management
- Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Work closely with design and engineering teams to develop detailed BOMs based on project specifications, covering all necessary equipment, materials, and services.
- Vendor Quotation Analysis: Obtain and analyze vendor quotations to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for each line item on the BOM.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare and present detailed cost estimates, including labor, equipment, and contingencies, to internal stakeholders and clients for approval.
- Budget Tracking: Monitor project budgets closely, ensuring adherence to financial constraints while optimizing resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment.
- Track expenditures and implement cost-saving strategies where feasible without compromising quality or timelines.
- Provide input for resource planning and support the tender process to establish accurate budget and staffing needs.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure data center projects adhere to industry standards, including power, cooling, redundancy, and scalability requirements.
- Conduct regular quality checks and testing throughout the project lifecycle to confirm adherence to design and specifications.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company standards, ensuring ethical conduct across projects.
Risk Management & Problem Resolution
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with data center construction, equipment installation, and operations.
- Develop contingency plans and address issues proactively to prevent project delays or disruptions.
- Provide regular status updates to stakeholders, escalating issues and risks when necessary to ensure transparency and timely resolution.
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the primary contact for project-related inquiries, updates, and escalations, ensuring clear and consistent communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, timelines, budgets, and any deviations from the original plan.
- Facilitate project meetings to keep all parties aligned with project goals, addressing any concerns promptly.
Testing & Handover
- Oversee final testing of data center systems, including power, cooling, and security, ensuring operational readiness.
- Coordinate the smooth transition of completed projects to operations and maintenance teams, providing thorough documentation and training as required.
- Maintain accurate records, including blueprints, test results, and operational guidelines for future reference.
Team Leadership and KPI Management
- Define team KPIs in alignment with overall targets, monitor performance, and take corrective actions as needed to ensure project success.
- Support and develop project management team members, fostering a high-performance environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Act as a role model for ethical behavior and compliance, maintaining high standards within the project management team.
Process Improvement and Innovation
- Continuously review and improve project management processes, tools, and methodologies, striving for lean project execution and higher efficiency.
- Ensure that project management tools fulfill company requirements and support seamless project execution.
Customer Satisfaction & Service Excellence
- Ensure customer satisfaction by actively monitoring deliverables, quality, and service levels to meet or exceed expectations.
- Address customer concerns proactively, ensuring alignment with contract obligations and service agreements.

JOB SPECIFICATION
Education Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years managing large-scale data center or IT infrastructure projects, with proven expertise in coordinating complex, multi-functional projects.
Core Competency:
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical, cooling, cabling, and IT systems.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet) and familiarity with standards like TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, and LEED.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication skills for clear reporting and stakeholder management.
