We are looking for a driven and knowledgeable Principal System Planning Engineer. This role involves conducting transmission analysis, managing interconnection processes (focused on MISO), and supporting growth initiatives and partnerships in the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transmission studies, production cost modeling, and market evaluations to identify project opportunities.
- Apply innovative analysis techniques to support new initiatives and partnerships.
- Prepare reports, executive summaries, and investment committee papers.
- Support permitting, siting, and licensing efforts as needed.
- Represent the company's interests in external forums.
- Manage consultants and collaborate across teams in the US and internationally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (power systems focus preferred).
- Experience in transmission system analysis and translating model results into actionable insights.
- Strong knowledge of US power industry standards, regulations, and market fundamentals.
- Familiarity with renewable energy, energy storage, and emerging technologies like green hydrogen.
- Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and computational tools.
- Interest in offshore wind development and execution.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of transmission grid assets and associated risks/opportunities.
