As Asphalt Superintendent, you'll oversee hot mix asphalt, curb, and concrete operations from start to finish. You'll ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high standards. You'll lead field teams, make critical decisions, and work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field teams to achieve success.
You have a high degree of impact on the projects, aggressively driving production, ensuring employee safety, motivating and mentoring employees, and delivering a quality product. You have the ability to see the big picture, overcome unexpected obstacles (because, hey it's construction), while making quick decisions to keep the job running smoothly. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ASPHALT SUPERINTENDENT
- A High School diploma and 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven leadership in asphalt paving and crew management.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the hot mix asphalt construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and contracts.
- Understanding of construction layouts and how to shoot grades; Ability to operate GPS survey equipment/ability to learn is desired.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
- Certain projects (schools, military bases, etc.) require the ability to successfully pass a CORI background check.
SUPERINTENDENT WORK SCHEDULE & PAY
The standard office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 - 5:00 pm. During the construction season, the construction division is normally on site by 6:30 am and finished by 5:00 pm (based on projects assigned and time of year--peak periods are spring and fall).
Due to the seasonal nature of asphalt construction, we have structured this position as both a year-round salaried position and also as a seasonal (9-10 months) hourly position in the past. We are open to discussing the selected candidate's schedule preference and business needs. Pay and benefits will depend on position classification.
