Our client is a leading player within the Renewable Energy sector and they are looking to hire an experienced Senior Development Manager with expertise in offshore wind energy. Job Summary:
As a Senior Development Manager for offshore wind projects in Japan, the successful candidate will be in charge of managing and expanding a portfolio of early-stage offshore wind projects that are necessary to advance offshore wind sites, also known as Promotion Zones. This entails interacting and cooperating with local stakeholders to carry out a range of preliminary development tasks, including grid connections, technical site assessments, port/harbor assessments, and environmental impact assessments. It also entails communicating with local stakeholders in compliance with strategic objectives and commercial and technical prerequisites prior to Japanese offshore wind auctions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project teams through all phases of development including feasibility studies, permitting, financing, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies or local communities.
- Identify potential risks associated with each phase of project execution; develop mitigation strategies accordingly
- Ensure compliance at all stages with relevant safety standards/regulations
Qualifications & Skills Required:
1) Bachelor's degree (or higher qualification) in Engineering or equivalent field
2) At least 10 years experience managing complex projects, preferably in offshore wind, offshore oil & gas, or other infrastructure projects
3) Understanding of the energy market, renewable technologies, and regulations relevant for wind development
4) High stakeholder management skills
5) Excellent communication/presentation/negotiation abilities
6) Native Japanese and fluent English required
