Geotechnical Department Manager

Job Description:
We are working with one of the US' largest multidisciplinary engineering firm with over 150 offices and 3000+ employees, seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to lead their dynamic team in Daytona Beach. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of large-scale projects, providing innovative solutions and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee and manage all geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements and company standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Business Development: Participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities. Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Proposal Preparation: Prepare and review proposals and cost estimates, ensuring proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and pricing to achieve desired profitability.
- Operational Oversight: Direct the daily operations of the department, including staff training, development, performance reviews, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, and quality control.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the department's annual business plan, focusing on key metrics such as revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
- Risk Management: Develop an understanding of project-related risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. Ensure adherence to company risk policies.
- Safety Leadership: Lead safety efforts for the team, ensuring compliance with safety rules and guidelines, and promoting a culture of safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
