Director of Government Affairs
My client is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our Policy & Permitting Team. This role will primarily focus on New York and New England. They are looking for a Director of Government Affairs to play a key role in advancing their solar and storage projects by influencing legislative and regulatory policies, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, devising strategies to enhance market reach, engaging with local communities, and protecting against adverse policy changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monitoring, assessment, and development of state legislative and regulatory policy strategies that align with My Client's business goals.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with state officials to foster partnerships that support the development and operation of solar and storage infrastructure.
- Educate and inform internal departments about state-level policies that may impact the company's portfolio.
- Engage with trade associations and build coalitions using third-party analysis and communication strategies to advocate for My Client's business interests.
- Oversee lobbyists to ensure legislative and regulatory outcomes favor My Client, ensuring strong representation on critical issues.
Required Education & Experience:
- A BA/BS degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in energy policy.
- A minimum of 5 years of state regulatory and/or legislative experience with a proven track record in policy campaigns.
- Experience in managing and collaborating with lobbyists, trade associations, other businesses, and consultants.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive external partnerships, including with trade associations, other companies, and lawmakers.
Direct experience in project development, utilities, and/or government is advantageous.
