Our client is creating a technology-driven platform to significantly expand nature-based carbon projects, aiming for major greenhouse gas reductions and long-term environmental benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Project Origination, Feasibility & Evaluation
- Discover and assess new biochar project opportunities, focusing on emerging markets like Southeast Asia, India, and Africa.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and stakeholder analyses to ensure projects are technically, operationally, and financially viable.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local partners, consultants, government agencies, NGOs, and community groups.
Design, Implementation & Operational Management
- Create tailored solutions for each project, working closely with subject matter experts.
- Lead the setup of biochar production systems, selecting suitable feedstocks, equipment, and logistics.
- Oversee the establishment of biochar production facilities, ensuring quality, safety, and sustainability.
- Manage on-site operations to ensure efficient and compliant production processes.
Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV)
- Implement MRV processes to track carbon sequestration, emissions reduction, and other environmental benefits.
- Regularly monitor and report on project performance, ensuring compliance with certification standards.
Carbon Certification & Compliance
- Prepare documentation for carbon certification, aligning with global standards (e.g., Puro.Earth, Verra, CSI).
- Coordinate audits and verification processes to secure project accreditation and credit issuances.
Logistics, Supply Chain & Financial Management
- Travel to project sites and manage logistics for feedstock sourcing, equipment procurement, and biochar distribution.
- Oversee project budgets and financial resources, ensuring profitability and sustainability.
- Monitor project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial), or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years in biochar production or similar industrial environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Knowledge of biochar production processes, feedstock selection, and logistics.
- Familiarity with carbon certification standards (Puro.Earth, Verra, CSI) and MRV protocols.
- Understanding of downstream industries like syngas, bio-oil, and activated carbon.
- Project Management Skills: Experience managing complex projects from start to finish.
- Leadership & Training: Ability to lead teams, provide training, and facilitate collaboration.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel & Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in Southeast Asia, India, and/or Africa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in carbon market project development and financing.
- Knowledge of sustainable manufacturing practices.
