Position Summary:
The AV Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and technical development of audiovisual systems, ensuring they meet client specifications and project requirements. This role involves collaborating with sales, project managers, and installation teams to create innovative, functional, and scalable AV designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop detailed AV system designs, including audio, video, control, and networking components, tailored to client needs and project goals.
- Technical Documentation: Produce comprehensive design documentation, including CAD drawings, schematics, equipment lists, and technical specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, project managers, and clients to understand requirements, propose solutions, and refine designs.
- Technology Expertise: Research and recommend AV technologies and products that enhance system performance and align with project budgets.
- System Integration: Ensure designs are practical for installation, scalable, and compatible with existing infrastructure.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
- Project Support: Assist in pre-sales efforts, including client presentations and technical support during proposal development.
- Testing and Commissioning: Oversee system testing, calibration, and commissioning to ensure optimal performance.
- Problem-Solving: Address design challenges during the project lifecycle and provide innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in AV design or a similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AV systems, including audio, video, conferencing, control systems, and IP-based solutions.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Visio. Experience with modeling and simulation tools is a plus.
- Certifications: CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist - Design) certification is highly preferred. Additional certifications in Crestron, Extron, or Dante are advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to clients and team members.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify and resolve design and technical issues efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in design documentation and planning.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including sales, project management, and installation crews.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience designing AV solutions for enterprise clients or large-scale venues.
- Familiarity with hybrid and virtual event technologies.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and its integration with AV systems.
