Join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure consulting firm as a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Manager in Denver, Colorado. Our client is looking for a motivated leader with a strong background in utility engineering, geophysics, or surveying who can oversee and grow our SUE operations across the region. A PLS or PE is a plus, but not required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, utility-locating services on complex infrastructure and transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead SUE investigations across Colorado and neighboring states, ensuring compliance with ASCE 38-22 standards.

  • Manage and mentor SUE field crews and office staff.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and client relationships.

  • Oversee the use of geophysical equipment such as GPR, electromagnetic locators, and vacuum excavation tools.

  • Coordinate with utility companies, municipalities, and internal design teams.

  • Review and interpret utility records, survey data, and geophysical findings to create comprehensive utility maps and models.

  • Prepare technical reports and QA/QC deliverables.

  • Support business development efforts including proposal writing and client presentations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in subsurface utility engineering or utility coordination.

  • Strong understanding of ASCE 38 standards and SUE QA/QC practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership or team management experience.

  • Experience with utility locating technologies and equipment.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (not required).

  • Experience managing DOT, municipal, or large-scale design-build projects.

  • Familiarity with GIS or BIM integration for utility data.
