About the Role
The Solar Project Engineer will be instrumental in the design, development, and execution of solar energy projects, ensuring technical accuracy and industry compliance. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to completion, supporting the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design team during initial training and as needed.
- Oversee, design, and support commercial and grid-supplied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications to ensure installations meet standards and customer requirements.
- Conduct detailed site evaluations.
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, geotechnical, and civil engineers to ensure compliance with technical and code requirements.
- Manage professional engineer review processes and obtain PE stamps on design packages.
- Provide technical support to sales and finance teams for proposals and customer presentations.
- Participate in customer, investor, and industry technical meetings and presentations.
- Assist with site evaluation, interconnection agreements, and related tasks.
- Work with utilities to prepare and process interconnection paperwork.
- Review and select appropriate equipment for PV systems, qualifying vendors as needed.
- Support project management and construction teams with technical guidance, RFIs, and as-builts.
- Review and validate work completed by other design engineers.
- Develop key project deliverables, including module layouts, single-line diagrams, material specifications, engineering validation, and 3D renderings.
- Assist with reviewing RFPs, technical writing, and response coordination.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, structural, or civil engineering design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or within a team.
- Acute attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities.
- Experience planning and organizing projects effectively.
