Senior Substation Designer
Position: Substation Physical Designer
Role Overview: Join our project team as a Substation Physical Designer, collaborating with engineers and other designers on high and extra high voltage substation projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing various substation drawings such as:
- General Arrangement
- Electrical Equipment Plans
- Section Views (Elevations)
- Detailed Bill of Material
- Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan
- Grounding Plan
- Conduit, Electrical Connection, and Grounding Details
- Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan
- Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans, and Sections
Additional Responsibilities:
- Integrating vendor information into design deliverables
- Conducting walkdowns at client facilities
- Applying client standards to the work
Qualifications:
- We do not sponsor work authorization for this position in the U.S.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation physical design
- Associate's Degree in Drafting, or high school diploma with 2+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer aid
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design
- Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles for creating technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Practical application of engineering science and technology, including relating various equipment to technical designs
