Job Description

As a Senior Structural Engineering Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing multiple high-profile projects, guiding them from inception through to successful completion. You will take the lead in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a leadership position that offers the opportunity to not only manage complex projects but also to help build and grow a new service line, shaping its culture and success from the ground up. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to drive project success and establish a strong presence in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple complex structural engineering projects, from planning and coordination through to execution and delivery.
  • Develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure efficient and timely project completion.
  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and engineering solutions.
  • Conduct advanced structural analysis and design to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Review and approve project plans, specifications, and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to keep projects on track and within scope.
  • Oversee construction support activities, including addressing requests for information (RFIs), reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and managing design changes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, resolving issues promptly and ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Play a key role in the growth and development of a new office, including establishing processes, managing client relationships, and mentoring staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with a significant portion in project management.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing large, complex projects.
  • Strong background in helping to establish and grow an office or team, with a focus on leadership and business development.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and regulations.
  • Expertise in using structural engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, RISA, ETABS, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and mentorship skills, with a passion for developing talent.
  • Exceptional client-facing abilities, including relationship building and problem resolution.
  • Strong strategic and business acumen, with the ability to drive the growth and success of a new office.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with regulatory codes and design manuals (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC).
