Senior Electrical Engineer - Federal / Design Principal

Location: Seattle, Washington (Hybrid)

Salary: $150,000 - $205,000

Level: Senior

Opportunity: A talented electrical engineer is needed to support federal, ports, and/or infrastructure projects in the Seattle office. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the design of federal, ports, and/or infrastructure projects.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer license required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Ability to lead electrical design projects and a team of design engineers
  • Proficiency in QAQC on electrical projects and mentoring emerging professionals
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Self-motivated, inquisitive, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Must be a US Citizen

Working Knowledge:

  • National Electrical Code (required)
  • Washington State Codes (preferred)
  • Unified Facilities Criteria (preferred)
  • ETAP/SKM (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Revit (a plus)
  • AutoCAD (a plus)

Duties:

Pre-Design Engineering:

  • Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports
  • Prepare electrical schematic designs

Design Engineering:

  • Design power single line and riser diagrams
  • Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM
  • Design low voltage and medium voltage infrastructure
  • Understand and utilize CAD/BIM standards
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, Washington Codes, and Energy Standards to design electrical systems
  • Coordinate among different disciplines, such as mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural
  • Work closely with the entire design team

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple large-size projects involving other senior engineers and sub-consultants
  • Provide mentorship to design engineers
  • Prepare proposals independently for clients
  • Actively develop business with new and existing clients

Construction Administration:

  • Review and respond to RFIs
  • Review equipment submittals
  • Perform punch walks and prepare punch list reports
